56: Ancient Libraries

Much of the knowledge that these prehistoric peoples acquired was recorded and stored in libraries much as we do today. The purpose of these ancient libraries was to preserve their knowledge against the ravages of time and forgetfulness, and so they did. The Hall of Records, said to lie beneath the statue of the Sphinx at Giza, Egypt, is possibly one such ancient library that has yet to be unearthed. Unfortunately, and perhaps even somewhat suspiciously, the government of Egypt will not allow any excavations to be done there. However, scientific tests have revealed that there is an underground cavern exactly where this Egyptian Hall of Records is said to exist.

The advanced knowledge of the ancients is also revealed in the architectural design and placement of many of their megalithic structures, through certain geometrical patterns and ratios that bare a certain meaningful relationship that reflects a much deeper wisdom. Such things as advanced mathematical constants and aspects of sacred geometry such as the Golden Mean were revealed in the most ancient architectural designs. For instance, the circumference of the Earth is encoded in the length of the base of the Great Pyramid, which is itself in perfect alignment with the points of the compass. There are many similar mathematical correlations in the design and layout of many such ancient sites. In this way, certain knowledge has been preserved in the architecture so that it would last through even a great cataclysm.

The crystal skull that we discussed in a previous part of this book is also said to have certain knowledge recorded into it, and so it, too, may be a sort of library.

The ancient mystery schools of our own historical past – the Egyptian schools, the schools of East Indian mysticism, and the mystical schools of the Far East – are all commonly assumed to have originated separately and to have each acquired their knowledge separately. This common conception is due both to their geographical distances from each other and to the apparent differences in their understandings. On closer examination, however, the origins of these schools, and their understandings, prove to be more related than is commonly realized.

The advanced knowledge of these various mystery schools may have arisen through the discoveries of prehistoric libraries of knowledge, or else survivors of a prehistoric global cataclysm may have preserved this knowledge and used it to build a new civilization. Whatever the case, it appears that these various secret schools have all held very similar knowledge, and that this knowledge is far in advance of anything that we’re commonly led to believe we should have had. How can this be so?

That the knowledge possessed by our earliest known civilizations was so unexplainably advanced for the time leaves us in a quandary, at least as long as we insist that our current scientific understandings regarding our origins and histories are accurate. What we believe about our earliest history is derived mainly from the archeological evidence that has been pieced together – sometimes forcefully – to fit our best theories. Other evidence in the form of ancient written texts has slowly come to us as well, culminating from years of studying the symbols of forgotten languages and slowly deciphering the tablets and scrolls that have been unearthed from ancient sites. Only in the last fifty years or so have many of these texts been able to be translated, and what they reveal is in direct competition with many of the beliefs that have already become well established and which have greatly influenced our understanding of ourselves and our past. Because of this, the revelations of these ancient texts have been passed off as too unbelievable to be true, and up until very recently have been considered as mere myths.

Much is to be learned and understood from the written texts and oral histories that are left to us as the records of our earliest civilizations. Many such records of our most ancient history, although presumed by many of our modern historians to be purely fictitious in nature, often describe a race of advanced people with certain technological capabilities that surpassed those of today in a number of ways. Many of these legends tell us that these god-like beings came from the heavens in craft that often sound very similar to what in modern times are often reported as UFOs.

It is likely that those of our ancestors from our earliest human history who came into possession of such advanced and still more ancient knowledge probably didn’t just stumble upon it by accident, but were either given possession of it or already knew something of its existence and whereabouts, being aware of its origin and some of the history of those who left it behind. The records that we have from these early times regarding our true history and origins are often unclear in certain places, and sometimes seem to contradict each other, but this is only because we don’t realize the extent that they reach into the past, and that our conception of our own natural evolution is flawed and leaves us unbelieving that the events depicted in our earliest recorded histories and legends could have only taken place within the last ten thousand years or so.

An advanced prehistoric civilization, such as Atlantis or Lemuria or some other, knowing of past cataclysms that have rocked our planet’s very foundations over regular and predictable cycles, would have seen the importance of preserving all of their knowledge in order to secure it from such disasters, so that when such a disaster struck again, they wouldn’t lose all of they had achieved, but could pass it on safely to those who might survive to build again. Perhaps this is what we see in the Great Pyramid, and Stonehenge, and at other ancient sites that reveal a mathematical knowledge beyond our expectations. Perhaps these megalithic structures are intended to signal to us in a timely way what will befall us as it did our ancestors, and to point us to the knowledge that these structures hold in a manner that reveals itself only when it is ready to be received. Perhaps, also, some of these ancient structures contain, or contained, written records from this lost civilization, including their history and customs, their technological achievements, and perhaps even deeper knowledge of things that we do not yet know.

The esoteric schools and secret societies of our own times have always shown a keen interest in these structures, and have always sought them out to learn what they might reveal. These structures and the ancient peoples who built them are deeply woven into the ideologies of these groups, showing us that there is a definite, if somewhat hidden, relationship between them. The ancients possessed advanced and often mysterious knowledge, as do these secret groups today. Did these groups stumble upon or otherwise receive the records of these prehistoric peoples, and do these groups know where such libraries of ancient knowledge exist? Are they keeping what knowledge they have a secret for the benefit of themselves alone? Could these ancient libraries, if they exist, tell us something about what is expected to happen in our future, based on knowledge of planetary cycles? We can only speculate, but in reviewing all the evidence, it seems that this is the most accurate conclusion to be drawn.
